Location: Eagle Lake, TX | Reports to: Plant Manager/Foreman | Classification: Full-Time / Hourly / Non-Exempt

**POSITION DESCRIPTION**

The position of Equipment Operator will be tasked with operating multiple pieces of equipment in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a safety first attitude . This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including MSHA, OSHA, TCEQ, etc.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

* Preferred experience in a Loader Operator and must be able or willing to learn a variety of equipment.

* Follow safety rules, regulations and procedures set forth by MSHA/OSHA and Alleyton policies.

* Safely perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections, complete daily equipment reports and report unsafe equipment to supervisor or foreman.

* Demonstrate the ability to safely and productively operate equipment at all times.

* Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment.

* Assist maintenance personnel with plant repairs when needed. Perform preventative maintenance.

* Cross train on other positions in the plant in order to serve as a relief to other operators.

* Demonstrates a positive, upbeat attitude and energy level and works as a team player.

* Ability to work in a confined area with other heavy equipment and ground personnel while maintaining awareness of surrounding hazards of operation

* Must be able to work on pipeline in the cold and the heat climates

* Dredge Operator requires many tasks greasing, maintain good housekeeping, perform pump jobs

* Must be able to trouble shoot problems

* Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. **Education and/or Experience** : High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Prior experience in safe operation of heavy mobile equipment or in the aggregates industry preferred. General maintenance abilities are required. Proficient knowledge of MSHA/OSHA safety requirements.

**Computer Skills:** Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software.

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**

* Must be able to perform work around water when required

* Must wear a life jacket when required

* This position will be considered for night shift roles, if they become available. Evenings and night shifts may be expected.

* Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

Most time is spent outdoors although in the enclosed cab of mobile equipment. Occasional outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions, heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel, exhaust, lubricants, solvents, etc. Work areas may often contain poor and unlevel ground conditions. Work area may have noise levels up to 90 dbs. Work areas require personal protective equipment such as, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high visibility vest or shirt, and hearing protection.

**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing at times. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. Must be comfortable with heights and the ability to work up to 100 feet. Ability to operate hand levers, foot pedals and steering wheel. Must be able to enter and exit equipment by climbing 6-step ladder up to 50 times daily. Ability to remain seated in equipment for up to 12 hours daily. Must have hand-eye coordination and vision to safely operate mobile equipment. Ability to read and interpret gauges and use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Bending, stooping, climbing and reaching are all required. Will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. as well as shovel up to 35 lbs. up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managers. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics.
